About Feedhop

Feedhop is not an online feed reader. So, what do we do then? Well, I'm glad you asked:

Feed storage

On our servers, we store a list of the web feeds to which you're subscribed. Your subscriptions are publically available, so that you can easily point "interested folks" to your personal Feedhop page and show them which parts of the WWW you're currently reading.

Feed recommendations

One of the real strengths of our service are our personalized feed recommendations. Based on your stored list of feed subscriptions, and on the subscriptions of other Feedhop users, we provide you with suggested web feeds which you'll probably find interesting. This is done through the process of collaborative filtering.

Similar users

A part of the collaborative filtering process consists of finding the people that have a similar taste in feeds. We'll actually show you which other Feedhop users share your reading interests, so that you can go and explore their profiles on your own and find even more feeds you may want to subscribe to.

Synchronization

We make managing your feed subscriptions easy. You can import an already existing feed list by uploading an OPML file, or by pointing us towards an URL where your OPML file can be found online. You can also easily export your feed list, since we provide it in an OPML format. Apart from using OPML files, you can also add feeds to your feed list manually. While browsing through your personal feed recommendations, for example.

Feed discovery

Each feed has its own page, which shows the details of the feed, as well as a preview of its content. Additionally, we display the feeds that are related to that feed. Finally, we display some of the users that subscribe to that feed, so that you can easily check out their personal Feedhop page and the feeds they subscribe to. In this manner you can easily "hop" through all available feeds, making it really easy for you to discover new and interesting feeds.
